Importing a .drawio file
- Open the project's Bastion Helix page and find Diagrams.
- Choose to import, and pick your
.drawiofile. It is read in your browser — the file isn't uploaded anywhere else. - The diagram opens as an editable flowchart, and the app says how many shapes and connectors it brought across, and how many connectors it had to skip.
If it says the file is compressed
Older versions of draw.io saved diagrams compressed. Import reads uncompressed files, which is what recent versions save by default. To convert one: open it in draw.io, choose File → Properties, untick Compressed, save, and import again.
Editing
Diagrams use four shapes — boxes, rounded boxes, diamonds and ellipses — in seven colours. Drag, resize, connect, label and reverse arrows, with undo while you edit. Complex draw.io icon sets don't come across as icons; the flowchart structure does.
Versions and permissions
Every save keeps a version, and the last thirty are kept. Open any of them, or restore it. Diagrams belong to a project, and only people who can browse that project can open them.
Exporting back to draw.io
Any diagram can be exported as a .drawio file that opens in draw.io. Nothing is locked in: if you stop using the app, take your diagrams with you.
Bastion Helix for Jira isn’t on the Marketplace yet. All seven modules are built and running in our own test Jira site. Try the live demos, or leave your email below to hear the day early access opens.
